People are the most important part of edtech integration. School districts with great tech programs focus on the teachers and students before the tech.

1. Classroom tech decisions focus on learning

Purchasing and implementation of classroom technology should always be based on how well it helps teachers teach and students learn.

2. Edtech must be “tools, not toys”

How tech is used is more important than getting new toys. We put technology in classrooms to improve teaching and learning. Using existing technology properly and consistently is far better than using new technology poorly (or not at all). Good training is just as important as equipment.

3. Great tech programs focus on people

Technology staff must develop a strong trust relationship with the school community, with a friendly, patient, supportive “bedside manner” that empowers users.  This is essential for growing and enriching any technology program.

4. The future of edtech is exciting!

We are at a pivotal crossroad in education. In the next 15 years, technology will change education more than ever before, and the decisions we make today will impact our schools for decades. With proper training and equipment, teaching and learning can meet the needs of the 21st Century.
