Teaching & Curriculum Development

lessonplanpicMy 22+ years of education experience give me veteran-level skill to help teachers effectively integrate technology into their classrooms.

Example: Modern Learning and Portrait of a Graduate

In my currently role, I am working with administrators to develop a modern learning planning committee (called the Future Ready Coalition). This committee, made up of administrators, teachers, parents, local community members, and current students, is first tasked with developing a formal Portrait of a Graduate vision document. I am an integral organizing member of this committee, and love the thrill of a deep study of education philosophy and how it impacts the decisions we make in running schools.

Example: Digital Portfolios

One particularly fun project is the development of blogs as a vehicle for student publishing. Students enjoy the sense of creating an authentic product that will showcase their hard work and talents.

Blogs of these types are especially effective in creative classes such as art, music, and creative writing classes. I enjoy working with teachers in these and other content areas to create rich publishing experiences for their students.

Similarly, a tangible example of my work with teachers is the development of the digital portfolios for wellness classes. Working with the wellness teachers, I developed a digital portfolio template for students to use to complete their fitness portfolios. The portfolio uses the Google Sites system, and each student creates and maintains the portfolio throughout their four years at HHS.

Example: Language Lab

I was instrumental in the selection of our new Sanako digital language lab in 2013, and was the primary source of training and support. In particular, teachers were encouraged to engage in learning activities that could not be done without the lab, such as: recording monologues and dialogues; speaking, recording, and peer feedback; and authentic AP exam practice.
